Trifecta has been diligently building a community since its opening and is back with the second edition of its Backyard Sessions!
The Trifecta Backyard Sessions celebrates Singapore’s music and creative scene, with well-known and trending local artistes like Charlie Lim, SHYE, TENGY and Regina Song on a drizzling Saturday night. (It was nice to see other homegrown artistes supporting the show on the sidelines too!)
TENGY
TENGY showed up with great energy with the first hip-hop track for the night, FOR REAL. The crowd was hyped up for real.
He then showed off his vocals with What Would I Do, a meaningful song about his backstory. TENGY then revved it up with fast rap verses with his songs, Down, and Cycles. The fans were definitely down to hear more as TENGY shared that the song was especially written for his girl.
The audience grooved to the beats and even shouted an iconic line “what do you know” during one of his songs. The back-and-forth reception definitely lighted up the atmosphere at Trifecta.
SHYE
The interactions with our homegrown artists and the audience did not stop there, as SHYE took over the stage with preppy beats and body grooves.
SHYE shared that the Backyard Sessions Vol. 2 was the first full band performance for her this year, and showed off her indie-pop princess prowess with PRINCESS, and FLOWER.
SHYE turned the skate bowl into a dance floor, as everyone stood up and danced along, which means we really couldn’t see when she performed her latest single, can’t you see.
She then asked for reactions as she sang an unreleased song for the audience.
To fans’ delight, SHYE also performed her older hits like 999 and NOTGONNALIE afterwards. The crowd just knew the lyrics by heart and sang out loud. The energy continued to soar.
Charlie Lim
Another long-awaited act was our vocal gem, Charlie Lim. The gen-z crowd from SHYE’s set dispersed a little, which was then filled by Charlie’s fans who sang along to his acoustic set.
Charlie did a one-man band set and served the crowd like the seasoned performer he is. He started his guitar set songs like Pedestal and Choices. The fans hummed to the melody and swayed along the soothing tunes.
Charlie shared that he had just touched down from a flight from London straight to this set, but he flew right into our hearts with his stripped-down renditions of Blah Blah blues, Conspiracy, and Room At The Table.
He asked for song requests from the fans and chatted with the crowd in between his songs. The night ended on a sweet and soothing note with Charlie.
Overall, each set brought various crowds to Trifecta, but everyone enjoyed the good music and each other’s company. It was safe to say Trifecta Backyard Sessions Vol. 2 was another success!
