5th gen K-pop idol group, EVNNE (pronounced “Even”), made their fanboys and fangirls swoon with their fanservice at the SQUAD:R fan-concert in Singapore, held at the Star Theatre on 5 April 2024.
EVNNE, a 7-member boy group who already had two music program wins only six months after their debut, brought “Trouble” to the hearts of ENNVEs (pronounced “Enn-ve”).
The boys were greeted by screams as they strutted down the stage like a runaway, showing off their ethereal looks and their classy full white outfits. The show officially started with their debut single, Trouble.
Fans could not get a break as EVNNE performed another sleek and charismatic choreography with the song, Syrup. Despite dancing to a choreography with lots of details and textures, their voices were sweet and smooth.
EVNNE then introduced themselves to the audience, from Hanbin introducing himself as baby fox to Keita calling himself an all-rounder. One thing for sure is that all the members shined brightly on stage, embodying their group name which stands for ‘Evening’s Newest Etoiles’.
The stage lights and LED screens were also brightly coloured and included the song titles and lyrics on them. It accentuated Your Text’s vibrant performance, as they sang, interacted and maintained eye contact with the fans.
EVNNE then took time to answer questions for the ENVVEs to get to know them better – from spontaneous music recommendations to their food preferences. The members were also tasked to do some aegyo and wake-up call recordings to fans’ delight.
EVNNE prepared a special performance for the crowd as they sang a cover to Shawn Mendes’ There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back for the first time. The Singapore fan-concert was also extra special for members as they celebrated 200 days since their debut.
EVNNE turned up the heat with a costume change – decked out in all black leather, sequined and lace fits – which led to ‘ugly’ screaming from the audience. Ugly was the song that took first place on MBC M’s Show! Champion and KBS2’s Music Bank from their 2nd mini-album Un:SEEN.
A round of relay mini games followed, including a relay dance game saw the members dance to songs by other bands like IVE, LE SSERIFIM and NCT. EVNNE also had to guess the ‘Rascal’ (spy) during the games, with Keita being iconic as he kept saying the games were easy and Hanbin accused sassily that the other members were spies.
Charismatic and powerful tracks followed with Chase, Role Model and K.O. There was some abs reveal, dance breaks and beautiful ad-libs. The members’ energy was infectious and consistent throughout the fan-concert.
EVNNE chose to end the finale with their ballad song, Even More, following their ending ment. It was clear how sincere they are walking towards their dreams.
But the party did not stop there, with not one, but TWO encore stages! The members roamed freely in the crowd, serving visuals and fanservice up close for the ENVVEs.
Encore songs included JUKEBOX and Festa, while the second encore featured Pretty Thing, Role Model and Festa again! It was such joy to watch the members interact with the fans, challenge each other to mini dance battles, waving their lightsticks, and doing what they do best.
Overall, it was surprisingly a well-balanced fan-concert, with a good amount of performing and talking. The setlist showcased both their adorable and charismatic sides. Their superb fanservice was also a plus point, and I do hope they come back to Singapore for another concert!
