Did you know there are free performances every evening at the Esplanade Concourse in Singapore?
Esplanade typically presents monthly themed programme – this October, it is back with ‘Popaholic’, which celebrates POPular music that we know and love through performances by local artistes.
Umar Sirhan performed two half an hour sets on 14 October 2024, Monday at the Esplanade Concourse.

Equipped with only an acoustic guitar and a music stand on stage, he performed a cover to Bruno Major’s ‘Nothing’. His expertise in music was nothing but mesmerising from the first note.
The Singapore singer-songwriter treated the small and cosy crowd with smooth vocals and ethereal acoustics for the night with Lord Huron’s ‘The Night We Met’. While he claimed to not be the most well-versed on social media trends, he still picked this trendy song.
His deep and soulful voice commanded the space as he sang ‘Are You Looking Up’ next. He had a feeling that the original singer, Mk.Gee, will represent the future of pop music.

Umar Sirhan continued his acoustic set with one of his favourite cover songs by one of his music inspirations, Frank Ocean’s ‘Super Rich Kids’. He brought a pulsing atmosphere to life with his soul and folk renditions.
The finale was an original released in May this year, ‘Rain In Manhattan’. Written in collaboration with rising star, singer-songwriter Shazza, the emotions could be felt through the song accentuated by Umar Sirhan’s calm demeanor.
It was the first time he performed the song live. Fans could watch a slightly different setlist in the second set.

It was a definitely a great way to start the week and chase the Monday blues away with Umar Sirhan’s stripped down version of pop music of the day.
